Welcome to fourth grade! I am so excited to be your child's fourth grade teacher. I have 9 years of teaching experience behind me working with first and second graders. Now I'm embarking on a new adventure as I move on up to fourth grade! I am looking forward to the year ahead and getting to know you and your child. I believe that learning should be fun and that all children have individual gifts and talents. I hope to find out what those talents are! I would love to hear from you throughout the year and I welcome you to email me with your questions or concerns at Amy.Stoessel@cobbk12.org.
Ms. Stoessel
Here are the essential questions that we will be asking and discussing the second nine weeks of fourth grade:
How do I read text to get information?
How do I use the research process to communicate what I learn about different topics?
How is dividing with a one digit divisor different than dividing with a two digit divisor?
How would I explain division or multiplication to someone else?
What are different ways I can show understanding of multiplication and division?
How do simple machines use force and motion to make work easier?
How do I see light and colors?
How did the original thirteen colonies begin and what was their impact on Native Americans?
What was the impact of the American Revolution on the thirteen colonies?

Currently we have 25 fabulous students in our class. The boys and girls are split evenly down the middle! Our day is filled with learning and the boys and girls are expected to work hard each and every day!

Your child will have a nightly homework assignment. It will be recorded in the daily agenda and is the responsibility of the student to remember what to take home. Homework is a daily grade and is reflected on the report card under work and study habits. Agendas must be signed on a daily basis. This is how I plan to communicate with you. I will be letting you know of assignments, grades, and daily behavior reports.
Please encourage your child to bring home a book from the media center every night. Reading is a part of the nightly homework. Your child will also be expected to take Accelerated Reader tests on the books he/she reads. We will be establishing a monthly reading goal which can be found inside your child's homework folder. The reading goal will be counted as a reading grade.
