The students brought in special objects or pictures that trigger very special memories. We took our memories and wrote narratives in writing workshop.

The class wanted to find out if Sprinkle has a sweet tooth and we offered her a choice of sweetened almonds and plain.

The conclusion:

No, she does not have a preference for sweets. She just loves almonds!

Studying our Adopted Trees

In a year long project, second graders have adopted two trees. We examine our trees four times a year and note seasonal changes.

Gingerbread House Building

In December, we created out own gingerbread houses after reading Hansel and Gretel and The Gingerbread Baby. We used our knowledge of pattern-making and 3-D shapes to design a house on paper, and then transferred the design to a real gingerbread house. We had lots of help from families who donated supplies, and volunteers who assisted us in our creations.
