                               Reading Recovery Lessons

Reading Recovery students receive 30 minutes of one-on-one instruction daily with Ms. Braswell or Mrs. Wenzell.  Each lesson begins with the reading of at least 3 familiar books on the child's level.  Next, the student composes and writes a short story with the teacher helping as needed.  The lesson ends with a new book each day.  First, the teacher introduces the new book to the child, and the teacher and child look through the book together.  Then the child reads the new book with the teacher providing support as needed. Reading and writing skills including comprehension and phonics are taught throughout each lesson.

What parents say about Reading Recovery:

"Her reading skills have improved dramatically"

"The program has been so helpful, because the books that are sent home every day are on his reading level, so now he is more excited about reading...I think this is an  excellent program."

"This program helps children become more successful in school"Stkfgr5

This is my thirteenth  year teaching in Cobb County.  I have taught first and second grades, and this is my seventh year teaching Reading Recovery.  The other half of my day I work in classrooms supporting students in reading and math.
